  • I am surprised at some of the negative reviews. Country Day is not inexpensive and no substitute for a lack of parental participation in a child's development. However, the education and experience our three children get from the school is invaluable and clearly setting them up to have competitive advantages in life. Our oldest in second grade is reading on a 7th grade level, multiplying multi digit numbers, dividing, speaking broken Spanish, knows an amazing amount of american sign language and a fair amount of Chinese in addition to participating in hour long drama productions. Our daughter has blossomed in her confidence and drive to learn. She is completing kindergarten knowing how to write simple sentences, read, speak words in Spanish and Chinese, sign words and songs in american sign language, add, subtract and do multiplication as well as perform in drama and make simple speeches with confidence in front of a crowd. Our youngest is in a toddler class (2-3). He knows some sign language, speaks in complete sentences, is respectful to others, and will look you in the eye to talk to you. The teachers meet us every day at drop off to respectfully greet the kids, look them in the eye, shake their hand and say good morning as well as share anything important that the parents need to know. The school has full PE with some fantastic coaches, chess, robotics, drama, a full barnyard of animals the children interact with, equestrian programs, foreign languages, and sign language to highlight a few of the unique opportunities. They have a cafeteria that prepares home cooked hot lunches and if it is important to you they welcome dietary restrictions. One of our favorite points of the campus is they are open to all races and faiths with a completely non bias view. Our children have respectfully learned not to see any differences in their friends regardless of their skin color, bindi, hijab, dread locks or even food allergies. We never thought our children would attend a private school but after our first was in kindergarten we were hooked. We make a point to budget so our children can have such a great opportunity.
